At Wooper, we preferred to work with wood because it is a natural and renewable species that allows us to create unique and authentic jewelry . No big production with us, but handcrafted wooden creations specially designed for you.

Choosing wood as a raw material
One of the reasons why we wanted to create Wooper is to be able to offer you unique jewelry close to nature: wood was obvious then! It is not only a raw and natural material, but also durable. Very pleasant to work with, it is nevertheless full of surprises: its color can be different depending on the grain and it is more or less malleable depending on the type of wood.
By choosing wooden jewelry from Wooper, you are sure to have a necklace or bracelet created with 100% Swiss wood. Indeed, from the beginning, we have been working with a local carpentry in which we recover the wood that it does not use as far as possible. No tree is cut especially for our creations!
We design your jewelery with love and handcraft it in a wood chosen for its superb qualities: beech wood. FSC certified , which guarantees responsible and sustainable forest management.
Creating jewelry: what wood to use?
It was obvious for us to create our jewelry with beech wood: Switzerland is a country where the forests are full of these magnificent trees. A typical forest tree, it has been able to adapt perfectly to the types of soil in the region. But many creators prefer to use other species of wood that correspond more to their criteria or their styles of creation. Here is a non-exhaustive list of the different types of European wood that can be used:
- The olive tree: it is a Mediterranean tree. Very sturdy, it offers a beautiful color palette and is also a delight for wood turners.
- The cherry tree: a beautiful red color, sometimes pink, which allows for original creations. It is also very popular with sculptors and luthiers.
- Boxwood: it is the hardest wood in Europe! Wood craftsmen also appreciate it for its unique colors thanks to these very tight rings.
- Chestnut: supple and easy to work with, it has shades between white and brown. This makes it possible to create jewelry with very soft color shades.
- Oak: it is a hard wood. Its veins are very elegant and make it possible to offer original and warm creations.
- Beech: have you ever been told it's our favorite wood? Robust and resistant, it also offers superb colors. Very aesthetic, it is he who gives all the strength of our creations: necklaces , jewellery, bracelets... you just have to choose!
Nature is full of treasures and although we choose to use its resources, we must take into account that not everything is eternal! It is essential to collect them sparingly and conscientiously.
It is for this reason that we are happy to be able to use wood which comes directly from the carpentry which is very close to our home. In this way, the beech wood does not travel thousands of kilometers: local and environmentally friendly, these are important points for us.

Caring for wooden jewelry
Working with wood and making a piece of jewelery requires patience and precision. It is therefore important to be able to maintain these small wooden works over time. Your earrings , or the medallion for your four-legged friend, will keep their shine thanks to regular maintenance. It could not be easier ! We are going to give you some tips to keep your beech wood jewelry as long as possible:
- First of all, if you don't wear it constantly, you can store it in a clean place. Choose a small jewelry box or hang them in a wardrobe. This will protect them from dust and humidity depending on where you live.
- Remember to clean them regularly: a small damp cloth will be more than enough to get rid of all particles such as dust or other dirt. We advise you to dry it properly so that it does not retain moisture.
- If you wish, it is possible to feed it with linseed or rapeseed oil if you do not use your jewel to diffuse essential oils. Just impregnate a small wipe with a little oil and gently incorporate it on your jewel. You don't need to do this every day, but once a month will help restore its shine.
